18/6 - Viszlàt

Today was a sad day at Hvidkildevej 6 (depending on who it was), because it was Greg's last day here before going back to Hungary. But more on that after this next off topic stuff...

Most of the day was rather uneventful. Okay, I went to the (makeshift) post office at Spar to pay a bill and get some money to buy a bus ticket from Greg. But then I saw Christian trying to spray paint a new color on his bike. The result you have to see for yourself.

Well, back on topic. Later Christian drank some coffee with Doris (one of our neighbours), when Jorge came out and suggested that since it was Greg's last day here, we could at least throw a farewell party, so Christian, Jimmy & I went to Spar (for me the 2nd time that day) to buy some beer, while Jorge & Greg were in the city to buy some souvenirs. After we came back, we decided to write on a greeting card, so we could give Greg later in the evening. In the end everyone (except for the Greenlanders, who technically doesn't count as a part of our fellowship, and Jorge(!)) did write a line or 5 to Greg.

In the evening we started to drink the beers, and we enjoyed ourselves with music provided by Christians iPod nano + speakers. Later in the evening Doris came and joined us, and Jorge made some sangria (improvised with some other ingredients besides the red wine). Eventually some of the other guys wanted to have some fire, so we got it... Later Doris went to bed, and I decided to go to bed at 1.00, because I was tired, but not before I managed to say goodbye to Greg 3(!) times!

It was a great pleasure to have you here the last few months, and I wish you all the best in Hungary, so until we meet again - Viszlàt Greg!!!

13-14/6 - Happy Birthday!!

Most of the day was rather uneventful, but I want to congratulate Greg for passing his exam the day before.

The day (or evening) really started when I went to the Student House. First I met familiar faces like Lucas and Chris (the Scottish guy). Then I met my good friend Christina (who is studying psychology), who brought her friend Pia with her. We talked for a while before meeting two of Christina's classmates (who both were Norwegian), who invited us to join their flatmates' little party. We stayed there for some time before going to the Street. And after leaving their apartment, we sang a birthday song to one of their flatmates, who were having his exam the next day (while I by myself changed that guy's name to my own, since it technically was my birthday at the time. Then we went on to Hr Nielsen, where we stayed there most of the night. In the meantime I met Lasse, Jakob & Mai from one of my former groups, and we tried to catch up, to drink, dance etc. until Hr. Nielsen closed at 5.00.

Thursday morning!

We decided to go on to Mr. Tequila (in my opinion not one of the best places, but it was the only one that was open at the time), so I gave the 3 others a beer before they went home (one by one), while I decided to stay. Eventually I started to talk to Marie & Matilde (who were also studying psychology!), and to my big surprise (and Marie's), I found out that she also came from Silkeborg - indeed a nice surprise. Eventually one guy asked us if we wanted to go with him to West End (Pub) at Borgergade, at which we accepted. And we drank some beer until I saw on my clock that I had to go to the library to pick up a reservation for a book and then went to the university to see how it went for Mads & Bjarke, who were having their exam. After the exam Mads and I went home, so I could get some sleep.I woke up again at 13.00 so I could get ready to go to the bowling center. Nothing special happened there that afternoon, but several of the kids' parents congratulated me on my birthday. After I came home, I met Christian, who asked me if I could join him for some pool, but I didn't feel like it and went up to my room to recharge my mobile phone and cooked some dinner in the kitchen. Later in the evening my parents called me to say happy birthday, so at least they remembered it :)

All in all it was a better way to celebrate my birthday than last year, where nothing happened at all! And it was also a nice touch to meet someone, who also came from the same area as oneself. :)

Yes, this picture was taken at 9 in the morning!

9/6 - Sun bathing

After waking up in the morning I met Greg and asked him if he wanted to go to an outdoor swimming pool in the western part of Aalborg. He said that he could, but he was going to meet 2 Polish girls there. We then waited for some hours before we went there, and we decided to go by bike (I was able to use one since I borrowed Jorge's bike for the weekend). The sun was shining and the sun was clear, and I think it was around 26-27 degrees (Celsius) outside. At one point Greg went to the Luna collegium to see if the Polish girls were there, while I went to the parking lot near the pool. Later Greg came without the girls, so we just went to the pool, where we met them. So the next hours were spent on putting sun lotion on, sunbathing and jumping into the pool. Later other persons came, like 2 other Polish persons (who weren't there for very long) and Fabio, a Turkish guy (I'm not kidding... that's his name!).
At 17.00 or later we decided to go home, but also went to Spar to buy something since the other supermarkets were closed at the time. Some time after coming home, I noticed that Greg's back was getting pretty red. The poor guy did get sunburned and didn't get any sun lotion, so we joked that looked like a red cancer (or lobster). Otherwise we didn't do anything the rest of the evening...

That's what you will get if you don't put sun lotion on your back!

6/6 - History Barbecue!

After working on the one-week exam, I met at Mads' place at 8.15 to get to the university in good time to hand in the assignment. We used the day before to complete the assignment, but it was worth it. We arrived at the university before 9.00, so I could print it, but I had to go to a computer room at Fib. 2 to do it, but in the end I managed to hand it in, and together with Bjarke we celebrated it with a nice Red Tuborg before going back home to relax.
Around 14.15 Mads and I went to buy some meat for a barbecue at our faculty and then went to Bjarke's place to enjoy a beer with him and his girlfriend. We went to the university at 18.15 and then enjoyed the evening. In the end I went home at 3.30 in the morning, but it was a nice evening.

2/6 - You bastard!!!!!!

I woke up at Lucas' place at 12 and decided to buy something for dinner, so I left and went to both the local Fakta and Aldi supermarkets before taking a bus home at 13.00.
After that the rest of the day was rather uneventful, I decided to watch the football match between Denmark and Sweden with Christian & Jimmy. That match had everything, and at one point we even believed that we could win the match - just until the 89th minute, when it suddenly came to an end with a f***ing spectator ran into the field and tried to attack the referee. That was SO stupid, actually unforgiving (since then I understand the massive hate there has been for that guy).
We decided to go to town and play some pool. At least I won against both guys once, but losing sucks - especially when you have to buy a round for all three. Then we went to the Street, where we met Jorge and David - and later two familiar faces: Allan & Lena (and a third one). In the end we went to Rock Nielsen, but it didn't last long before Christian, Jimmy and I went to have some food, and later decided to take a taxi home. But unfortunately we had to wait for a LONG time before we finally got one (around 6.15!!).

1/6 - Dancing Machine!

I woke up sometime in the morning, and I was tired as hell because of the fire incident a couple of hours before. I met Mads and he didn't get much sleep either. That must be the price of having the fire department here for most of the night... I then went back home and tried to continue my work for the one week exam, but slept instead.
At 17.00 I decided to have some dinner before I went to my friends Jens, Kenneth, Martin, Tommy & Troels, who were having a dinner, at 18.15. I had promised to drive a car to the town of Støvring and hand it to Jens' friend and partner of his grill bar. Luckily they gave me money to take the bus back to Aalborg, and Jens' friend drove me to the local bus station just in time to catch a bus back to Aalborg.
After coming back home, I just relaxed and prepared myself to go into town and meet the others, so I took the bus at 23.25 to the city and went to The Street at Hr. Nielsen to meet the others. Later Jens' sister Signe & her friend Maria arrived, and I must say that Maria was a nice girl (she was impressed with my ability to know the lyrics of most of most of the songs, that were played), and we danced a couple of times. Eventually the others went one by one until it only were Jens, Signe, Maria and myself left, and during a dance Jens & Signe just disappeared, so we went out to look for them. We found out that they went to Jens' apartment, so we went there. But for reasons, I won't explain, I had to go again, but not before saying goodbye to both girls.
Since it was too early to go home (2.00), I decided to write to Christian, and eventually met with him and Jorge, who also was with David. We then went to the upper end of the Street, where we met some other international students. After some while we decided to go to Saltlageret, where we met Lucas, and at some point we were dancing with two Danish girls until around 5.00, where we went to the upper end of the Street (Jorge & Christian disappeared at some point) with the two Danish girls, and we found out that one of them could speak at bit of Spanish, because that she had worked at Malaga some while ago. Then I went with Lucas back to his apartment to get some sleep...

31/5 - (We didn't start the) Fire...

This day was one of the more unusual days, that ended very unusual, but more on that later. I was trying to read the last texts for my one week exam, which I received on Wednesday. Later I went to town to pay a bill and then went to the bowling center, where I spent the rest of the afternoon doing my usual stuff for the club's youth department.
After arriving back home from the bowling center, I didn't do anything until I suddenly heard something down in the kitchen and then the doorbell around 1.00 during the night, so I went down to see that Jorge was very worried and said that there was a fire at one of the neighbours' place, so I checked the back door and saw fire coming out of number 12, and another neighbour already called for the fire department and the police. Then a guy (who was working for the Danish railway company) came and said that we had to evacuate the house!! I knocked at Lars' and the Greenlanders' room (note that I wrote it in plural), and Lars was annoyed because that my knocking caused him to spill on his bed. Too bad sucker, but do you want to get burned alive?! But there weren't any response at the Greenlanders' room (despite 3-4 attempts), so I left them alone and went out to the others. We stood there keeping our spirits high, and luckily there weren't any casualties at number 12, but the place was completely wasted, and the police had to break in to number 14 to see if there was anybody there (and there weren't). Eventually we went back into the house one by one, but I couldn't fall asleep before the fire engines drove away at 3.00 in the morning....

And if you want to see pictures from the fire just go to this link.

26/5 - Karneval i Aalborg!!!

After waiting for a very long time, one of my personal highlights of the year finally came: The carnival in Aalborg, known as the largest of it's kind in northern Europe. I was supposed to go with the same girl that I went with last year, but unfortunately she decided to go with some others. But in the end I found some others to go with in Jorge and David and some other Spaniards, but more on that later...

After waking up early and getting some breakfast, I prepared myself for the carnival by taking a bath and then put on my costume (which was supposed to look similar to this guy, but with some minor changes). I took a bus around 10.45 to Vejgård Square, where one part of the carnival parade was starting. I called Jorge to hear when they were coming, so we agreed to meet at Hadsundvej - not far from the square. Despite waiting for almost 15 minutes, I never saw them and decided to go on, although I had to carry 24 beer cans all by myself, but gave some of them away along the way....

After taking breaks and looking at other costumes (like the Beagle Boys, a legion of Imperial Stormtroopers and even some Transformers), I finally reached Nytorv and met a random girl, who got a beer from me and then I got a picture of her posing. Then I met my old classmate from elementary school Lars and his girlfriend, who both were experiencing the carnival for the first time. After staying with them for a while, I suddenly noticed something: it was David & Jorge!! So I left Lars and his girlfriend and finally met those two Spaniards, who both were dressed as Scots from Braveheart (especially Jorge's haircut was bizarre!)!

We then decided to go on to Kildeparken, where the parade usually ends. Along the way we met Lucas (another Spaniard, who has been in Aalborg for almost a year) and later the rest of the Spanish Braveheart-group. But while waiting in the ques to get in the park, I lost them, but I joined some girls, who were dressed as poodle dogs (although they in my opinion didn't look like such). But we had a good time and eventually made it into the park, where I got a picture with one of them before going on to find the Spaniards, which I found. Later I searched for the girls and found them after a while with one of my friends, who was very drunk. He greeted me by doing a kind of flying kick, but he fell down on the ground himself while I was still standing. Sadly my digital camera fell to the ground and stopped to work. After staying with them for a while, I tried to look after Jorge and the others, but in the end I decided to go to the bowling center to watch the last squad of a big international tournament.

It must be noted that Jorge couldn't find David after they entered the park, and David had Jorge's mobile phone, money and extra clothing. Later it was revealed that he was found and was brought back to his place, so Jorge later could get his stuff back... oh yeah, the next day Jorge got a new, and short haircut, which is much better than that bizarre "Braveheart-haircut"!

All in all this years experience was great, a little different from last year, but still I had lots of fun, although that broken camera did ruin a little bit of my mood. But i will definitely be there next year!!!
