Update

Oh well... where shall I start. I'm very sorry for not updating the last month, but I have been busy with many things. First of all I have started to study English and International Studies (aka. English SIS) at Aalborg University (so no more History for me), so I had to learn to know a lot of new people - among those 3/4 of the tutor team, where I still talk to some of them. We had this introduction period where there were activities arranged by the tutors so that we could better know each other - and I (and a very few others) were among the few who came.

The highlight of the introduction period was the rustur (which basicly is an intoduction trip with lots of alcohol), where we were at a big house near the sea. Among the highlights were a group singing contest (my team actually won!), an award dinner (with nominations etc.) the last day and a guy who actually was drunk all the time! And when you slept 6 hours in total during the 3 days the rustur lasted, you would be pretty tired - especially if you had some kind of hangovers. The trip back to the university was quite memorable because that the bus in which I drove with actually broke down(!), so we had to wait for another bus to come and pick us up. What a ending to a great trip! Later that day there was also a boat race at Klingenberg Lake/Pond. But before the race actually started, it began to rain, so I decided to go to Mærkbar (the Friday Bar of the Humanistic Faculty) and spent the rest of the day before going home to sleep.

Otherwise life at Hvidkildevej is somewhat the same: The Greenlanders are still not being social, Lars still has tendencies to make crappy food (although he hasn't burned his food for quite some time now!) etc. But we also got our latest batch of international students in the house: Jan (aka. Honza) from the Czech Republic, Andrzej (aka. Andrew) from Poland, and last but not least Ragwon from China (who just came to the house last week!)

4-5/8 - Blokhus

After being at my parents' place most of the summer, it was time to go back to Aalborg - and unlike previous times I decided to take the train back from Skanderborg. Nothing happened on the way back, but the trip was actually quicker than the usual bus trip from Aalborg to Silkeborg. After coming back to the apartment on Hvidkildevej, I decided to meet Mads at his place, and the next two hours we talked about many things. But at 14.45 I had to go back to my place to prepare myself to go to Blokhus.
In the end of June I received an invitation for a birthday party from my good friend Christina, who I met when I started at the university almost 2 years ago (and no, it is not the same girl as the one who went to the same class as Greg). I couldn't resist her offer.
I was excited about how many people, who were coming, actually I already saw the first 2 at the bus station, but it was only confirmed when I arrived at Christina's mom's summer residence, and they arrived around 5-10 minutes later. Among the other guests were her cousin Steffen, familiar faces like Mai & Jakob as well as Pia (who I met the night before my birthday) and Ann Christina & her boyfriend Mattias (who Christina & I, among others, went to the carnival with last year), and new faces like the two girls from the bus station (Nanna & Anne Katrine), Allan (who is studying psychology together with Christina, Nanna & Anne Katrine) and 2 other friends. So all in all we were around 15 people.
Dinner was great! We got some beef, chicken and spareribs along with some salad and some other stuff, and for dessert we got some cake. All evening there was this positive mood, and most of us really enjoyed ourselves. Later in the evening there was this limbo competition, in which I actually won!! Considering that I rarely participate in those kind of competitions, even I was surprised. Before midnight the first guests went home. We decided to go to town, but Anne Katrine wanted to go home because she wanted to paint her new apartment the next day, and Pia shocked us all by spontaneously taking a taxi back to Aalborg!! Imagine how expensive the bill must have been!
But the rest of us went to town and quickly went in to a place called Pigen og Sømanden (the girl and the sailor), where we stayed and drank some beer, danced and participated in a limbo contest. Around 4.30 most of us decided to go back to the summer residence while the rest of them went back a little later. After we had a hot dog, I decided to go to bed.
Sunday morning

At 9.30 I decided to wake up, but I had some major hangovers. Not the best feeling to start the day with. After having breakfast, we were talking about many things before we decided to go to the beach. After arriving at the beach we noticed that there were a lot of people there. We jumped into the water, but there were a lot of big waves, so sometimes we were pushed back. We then took a sun bath until the time was around 12.50, where we went back to the summer residence to pack our stuff before taking a bus back to Aalborg at 14.40.
After coming back I wanted to get some sleep, but when I turned my laptop on, I ended like surfing the Internet instead. In the end I went to sleep around 1.
I want to thank Christina for throwing this great party, and the others for making this a great weekend! It sure was great, and I hope that we can do this again next year.

12/7 - Visual update

Today I have added two Last.fm charts to the blog to spice it up a bit. And I have finally added a profile picture, although it is not an actual picture of myself.
Otherwise I'm still enjoying my summer vacation at my parents' place.

Summer update

First of all I want to apologize for not updating often at the moment, but since Greg went back to Hungary, there hasn't been happening many new things since then. But, there were a few things:

  1. I went to a party with Christian, Lars, Doris & Marek (a group mate of Doris), where Jorge later joined the party. Christian became a little drunk and a girl (and later a guy) was offended of some of his actions/comments before going to town with them. Eventually I took the taxi back together with Doris & Marek before going to bed.
  2. The next day (actually a few hours later) I went with the bowling club to the wilderness to the east of the city of Brønderslev. I did some games and competitions with youth players and others from the youth department while others from the club just enjoyed the weather. Unfortunately an shoulder injury broke up in the evening, and I couldn't throw a ball without feeling pain on my left shoulder. So I tried to do as little as possible the rest of the weekend before coming back home the next day.
  3. The next week 2 of Jorge's friends came to Denmark. Every evening they went to town to party, and they surely experienced many things (a car accident, one guy's "fight" with a lamp, a walk back to the house etc.). Eventually the Spaniards went to Norway with a third friend and David on July 5th (last Thursday) in the morning. In this period (the end of June) I also spoke with Martin for the last time before he was leaving for Sweden to meet his sister and some friends.
  4. On July 6th Lars left for his summer vacation with his mother, and Christian left with his father, so for a few hours I was actually alone in the house, but it was all ruined when Simon's bitch girlfriend's sister and her boyfriend(?) came to the house. In the evening Jimmy came back from Roskilde because the weather at the festival was too much for him.
  5. On July 8th Jorge and his friends came back from Norway, and we watch some Formula 1 (too bad for them (and good for me) that Alonso didn't win the race). Around 17.00 I was finished packing my stuff and was ready to take the bus to my parents' place in Bryrup, so I said goodbye to Jorge for the last time before leaving the house.

This wraps up this update, and I want to say thank you to both Jorge and Martin for staying at Hvidkildevej 6 the last few months, and thanks for the contributions to the everyday life in the house. And I will find out if I will come to Spain next year!

18/6 - Viszlàt

Today was a sad day at Hvidkildevej 6 (depending on who it was), because it was Greg's last day here before going back to Hungary. But more on that after this next off topic stuff...

Most of the day was rather uneventful. Okay, I went to the (makeshift) post office at Spar to pay a bill and get some money to buy a bus ticket from Greg. But then I saw Christian trying to spray paint a new color on his bike. The result you have to see for yourself.

Well, back on topic. Later Christian drank some coffee with Doris (one of our neighbours), when Jorge came out and suggested that since it was Greg's last day here, we could at least throw a farewell party, so Christian, Jimmy & I went to Spar (for me the 2nd time that day) to buy some beer, while Jorge & Greg were in the city to buy some souvenirs. After we came back, we decided to write on a greeting card, so we could give Greg later in the evening. In the end everyone (except for the Greenlanders, who technically doesn't count as a part of our fellowship, and Jorge(!)) did write a line or 5 to Greg.

In the evening we started to drink the beers, and we enjoyed ourselves with music provided by Christians iPod nano + speakers. Later in the evening Doris came and joined us, and Jorge made some sangria (improvised with some other ingredients besides the red wine). Eventually some of the other guys wanted to have some fire, so we got it... Later Doris went to bed, and I decided to go to bed at 1.00, because I was tired, but not before I managed to say goodbye to Greg 3(!) times!

It was a great pleasure to have you here the last few months, and I wish you all the best in Hungary, so until we meet again - Viszlàt Greg!!!

13-14/6 - Happy Birthday!!

Most of the day was rather uneventful, but I want to congratulate Greg for passing his exam the day before.

The day (or evening) really started when I went to the Student House. First I met familiar faces like Lucas and Chris (the Scottish guy). Then I met my good friend Christina (who is studying psychology), who brought her friend Pia with her. We talked for a while before meeting two of Christina's classmates (who both were Norwegian), who invited us to join their flatmates' little party. We stayed there for some time before going to the Street. And after leaving their apartment, we sang a birthday song to one of their flatmates, who were having his exam the next day (while I by myself changed that guy's name to my own, since it technically was my birthday at the time. Then we went on to Hr Nielsen, where we stayed there most of the night. In the meantime I met Lasse, Jakob & Mai from one of my former groups, and we tried to catch up, to drink, dance etc. until Hr. Nielsen closed at 5.00.

Thursday morning!

We decided to go on to Mr. Tequila (in my opinion not one of the best places, but it was the only one that was open at the time), so I gave the 3 others a beer before they went home (one by one), while I decided to stay. Eventually I started to talk to Marie & Matilde (who were also studying psychology!), and to my big surprise (and Marie's), I found out that she also came from Silkeborg - indeed a nice surprise. Eventually one guy asked us if we wanted to go with him to West End (Pub) at Borgergade, at which we accepted. And we drank some beer until I saw on my clock that I had to go to the library to pick up a reservation for a book and then went to the university to see how it went for Mads & Bjarke, who were having their exam. After the exam Mads and I went home, so I could get some sleep.I woke up again at 13.00 so I could get ready to go to the bowling center. Nothing special happened there that afternoon, but several of the kids' parents congratulated me on my birthday. After I came home, I met Christian, who asked me if I could join him for some pool, but I didn't feel like it and went up to my room to recharge my mobile phone and cooked some dinner in the kitchen. Later in the evening my parents called me to say happy birthday, so at least they remembered it :)

All in all it was a better way to celebrate my birthday than last year, where nothing happened at all! And it was also a nice touch to meet someone, who also came from the same area as oneself. :)

Yes, this picture was taken at 9 in the morning!

9/6 - Sun bathing

After waking up in the morning I met Greg and asked him if he wanted to go to an outdoor swimming pool in the western part of Aalborg. He said that he could, but he was going to meet 2 Polish girls there. We then waited for some hours before we went there, and we decided to go by bike (I was able to use one since I borrowed Jorge's bike for the weekend). The sun was shining and the sun was clear, and I think it was around 26-27 degrees (Celsius) outside. At one point Greg went to the Luna collegium to see if the Polish girls were there, while I went to the parking lot near the pool. Later Greg came without the girls, so we just went to the pool, where we met them. So the next hours were spent on putting sun lotion on, sunbathing and jumping into the pool. Later other persons came, like 2 other Polish persons (who weren't there for very long) and Fabio, a Turkish guy (I'm not kidding... that's his name!).
At 17.00 or later we decided to go home, but also went to Spar to buy something since the other supermarkets were closed at the time. Some time after coming home, I noticed that Greg's back was getting pretty red. The poor guy did get sunburned and didn't get any sun lotion, so we joked that looked like a red cancer (or lobster). Otherwise we didn't do anything the rest of the evening...

That's what you will get if you don't put sun lotion on your back!

6/6 - History Barbecue!

After working on the one-week exam, I met at Mads' place at 8.15 to get to the university in good time to hand in the assignment. We used the day before to complete the assignment, but it was worth it. We arrived at the university before 9.00, so I could print it, but I had to go to a computer room at Fib. 2 to do it, but in the end I managed to hand it in, and together with Bjarke we celebrated it with a nice Red Tuborg before going back home to relax.
Around 14.15 Mads and I went to buy some meat for a barbecue at our faculty and then went to Bjarke's place to enjoy a beer with him and his girlfriend. We went to the university at 18.15 and then enjoyed the evening. In the end I went home at 3.30 in the morning, but it was a nice evening.

2/6 - You bastard!!!!!!

I woke up at Lucas' place at 12 and decided to buy something for dinner, so I left and went to both the local Fakta and Aldi supermarkets before taking a bus home at 13.00.
After that the rest of the day was rather uneventful, I decided to watch the football match between Denmark and Sweden with Christian & Jimmy. That match had everything, and at one point we even believed that we could win the match - just until the 89th minute, when it suddenly came to an end with a f***ing spectator ran into the field and tried to attack the referee. That was SO stupid, actually unforgiving (since then I understand the massive hate there has been for that guy).
We decided to go to town and play some pool. At least I won against both guys once, but losing sucks - especially when you have to buy a round for all three. Then we went to the Street, where we met Jorge and David - and later two familiar faces: Allan & Lena (and a third one). In the end we went to Rock Nielsen, but it didn't last long before Christian, Jimmy and I went to have some food, and later decided to take a taxi home. But unfortunately we had to wait for a LONG time before we finally got one (around 6.15!!).

1/6 - Dancing Machine!

I woke up sometime in the morning, and I was tired as hell because of the fire incident a couple of hours before. I met Mads and he didn't get much sleep either. That must be the price of having the fire department here for most of the night... I then went back home and tried to continue my work for the one week exam, but slept instead.
At 17.00 I decided to have some dinner before I went to my friends Jens, Kenneth, Martin, Tommy & Troels, who were having a dinner, at 18.15. I had promised to drive a car to the town of Støvring and hand it to Jens' friend and partner of his grill bar. Luckily they gave me money to take the bus back to Aalborg, and Jens' friend drove me to the local bus station just in time to catch a bus back to Aalborg.
After coming back home, I just relaxed and prepared myself to go into town and meet the others, so I took the bus at 23.25 to the city and went to The Street at Hr. Nielsen to meet the others. Later Jens' sister Signe & her friend Maria arrived, and I must say that Maria was a nice girl (she was impressed with my ability to know the lyrics of most of most of the songs, that were played), and we danced a couple of times. Eventually the others went one by one until it only were Jens, Signe, Maria and myself left, and during a dance Jens & Signe just disappeared, so we went out to look for them. We found out that they went to Jens' apartment, so we went there. But for reasons, I won't explain, I had to go again, but not before saying goodbye to both girls.
Since it was too early to go home (2.00), I decided to write to Christian, and eventually met with him and Jorge, who also was with David. We then went to the upper end of the Street, where we met some other international students. After some while we decided to go to Saltlageret, where we met Lucas, and at some point we were dancing with two Danish girls until around 5.00, where we went to the upper end of the Street (Jorge & Christian disappeared at some point) with the two Danish girls, and we found out that one of them could speak at bit of Spanish, because that she had worked at Malaga some while ago. Then I went with Lucas back to his apartment to get some sleep...

31/5 - (We didn't start the) Fire...

This day was one of the more unusual days, that ended very unusual, but more on that later. I was trying to read the last texts for my one week exam, which I received on Wednesday. Later I went to town to pay a bill and then went to the bowling center, where I spent the rest of the afternoon doing my usual stuff for the club's youth department.
After arriving back home from the bowling center, I didn't do anything until I suddenly heard something down in the kitchen and then the doorbell around 1.00 during the night, so I went down to see that Jorge was very worried and said that there was a fire at one of the neighbours' place, so I checked the back door and saw fire coming out of number 12, and another neighbour already called for the fire department and the police. Then a guy (who was working for the Danish railway company) came and said that we had to evacuate the house!! I knocked at Lars' and the Greenlanders' room (note that I wrote it in plural), and Lars was annoyed because that my knocking caused him to spill on his bed. Too bad sucker, but do you want to get burned alive?! But there weren't any response at the Greenlanders' room (despite 3-4 attempts), so I left them alone and went out to the others. We stood there keeping our spirits high, and luckily there weren't any casualties at number 12, but the place was completely wasted, and the police had to break in to number 14 to see if there was anybody there (and there weren't). Eventually we went back into the house one by one, but I couldn't fall asleep before the fire engines drove away at 3.00 in the morning....

And if you want to see pictures from the fire just go to this link.

26/5 - Karneval i Aalborg!!!

After waiting for a very long time, one of my personal highlights of the year finally came: The carnival in Aalborg, known as the largest of it's kind in northern Europe. I was supposed to go with the same girl that I went with last year, but unfortunately she decided to go with some others. But in the end I found some others to go with in Jorge and David and some other Spaniards, but more on that later...

After waking up early and getting some breakfast, I prepared myself for the carnival by taking a bath and then put on my costume (which was supposed to look similar to this guy, but with some minor changes). I took a bus around 10.45 to Vejgård Square, where one part of the carnival parade was starting. I called Jorge to hear when they were coming, so we agreed to meet at Hadsundvej - not far from the square. Despite waiting for almost 15 minutes, I never saw them and decided to go on, although I had to carry 24 beer cans all by myself, but gave some of them away along the way....

After taking breaks and looking at other costumes (like the Beagle Boys, a legion of Imperial Stormtroopers and even some Transformers), I finally reached Nytorv and met a random girl, who got a beer from me and then I got a picture of her posing. Then I met my old classmate from elementary school Lars and his girlfriend, who both were experiencing the carnival for the first time. After staying with them for a while, I suddenly noticed something: it was David & Jorge!! So I left Lars and his girlfriend and finally met those two Spaniards, who both were dressed as Scots from Braveheart (especially Jorge's haircut was bizarre!)!

We then decided to go on to Kildeparken, where the parade usually ends. Along the way we met Lucas (another Spaniard, who has been in Aalborg for almost a year) and later the rest of the Spanish Braveheart-group. But while waiting in the ques to get in the park, I lost them, but I joined some girls, who were dressed as poodle dogs (although they in my opinion didn't look like such). But we had a good time and eventually made it into the park, where I got a picture with one of them before going on to find the Spaniards, which I found. Later I searched for the girls and found them after a while with one of my friends, who was very drunk. He greeted me by doing a kind of flying kick, but he fell down on the ground himself while I was still standing. Sadly my digital camera fell to the ground and stopped to work. After staying with them for a while, I tried to look after Jorge and the others, but in the end I decided to go to the bowling center to watch the last squad of a big international tournament.

It must be noted that Jorge couldn't find David after they entered the park, and David had Jorge's mobile phone, money and extra clothing. Later it was revealed that he was found and was brought back to his place, so Jorge later could get his stuff back... oh yeah, the next day Jorge got a new, and short haircut, which is much better than that bizarre "Braveheart-haircut"!

All in all this years experience was great, a little different from last year, but still I had lots of fun, although that broken camera did ruin a little bit of my mood. But i will definitely be there next year!!!

19/5 - Dúné concert

I woke up in the morning at 9 to get rid of some of the beer cans from the party, when I met Christina (David's Danish girlfriend), who was sleeping in Jorges room with David while Jorge still was in town. After she went into the room, I decided to take a little nap, and then went back to the kitchen to continue cleaning. Later Greg showed up and helped med with the cleaning, and soon we were done. At 12 we ate some late breakfast/lunch outside when David & Christina came out to say goodbye, because they had to prepare themselves for a grill party later that evening.

Then I went up to my room to relax before going to a concert with the up and coming band Dúné in the evening at the Student House. I wrote to my old friend Søren (who coincidentally is a part of their management group), if he was coming, but sadly he couldn't come, but he hoped that I would enjoy the concert. I decided to go to the Student House at 19.30 and waited until the doors to the concert were opened. At 21.00 it began with the group Charlie Don't Surf, who served as the warm-up band, and they did a decent job. After they were finished, there were a short break before Dúné finally arrived on stage, but it was worth the wait. Seriously it was a great concert: their live show was great, they had lots of energy and I could go on (although there were some technical problems and we didn't get an extra track). After the concert ended, I decided to go home, but I had certainly something to tell Søren the next day...

18/5 - (end of) Spring Party at Hvidkildevej!

This Friday was a day we all were waiting for. We had planned the party for some time, so we had planned to use the afternoon to buy some stuff: chips & popcorn, red wine, soft drinks, fruit and sugar for some sangria, that Jorge wanted to make, and some other stuff. So we thought that we all were going to do some shopping, but we were so wrong!!
Jimmy was doing some work for the project, and wasn't home at 17.00 (the time that we were going), but actually he was sleeping and couldn't hear the knocking at his door.
Martin was also working...
Lars was at a Friday Bar
and last, but not least: the little guy known as Chris(tian)
So Greg, Jorge and I went on our own to Fakta and Spar to do some shopping, and Greg decided to call Chris. We found out that he was at his parents' place around Skive, and he had to be at a first aid course the next day, so he couldn't come!! Greg & Jorge were very disappointed because that Chris was more than willing to make the party happen.... but we went on and bought the necessary stuff.

After some dinner we made the last preparations for the party, and even got a shower before the first guests arrived. The first guests arrived around 20.15, and they were all Polish, and around 20.40 the first girls arrived. At first there weren't many guests, but as time went by more and more guests came to the party. And at one point Mads joined the party. As a kind of "punishment" people were drawing on Chris' window, so I wonder what his first reaction will be when he comes back...

The party went on and on, although some of the guests left early to go to the Street... bah! Jimmy also managed to get a bit drunk, so he went to bed at some point. At some point some neighbours showed up for a short while before they left, but one of them surely won't be forgotten by Greg - at least not for a while!

But eventually the party ended when the last guests left at 4.15, and Jorge at the same time took a taxi to the Street... some Spaniards surely are wierd!!

One of them was definitely drunk. Decide for yourselves who it is!

12/5 - Drunk... yeah!!

Most of the day I used to recover from a party with the bowling club the day before, because I was invited to come to a birthday party at some friend's place. But I should come in the evening because that the others were going to eat dinner, but it didn't stop me from making my own dinner. After taking a nice shower, I was ready to go at 20.15, so I could catch the bus.
I arrived around 21.00 and met my friends, who actually had leftovers from their dinner, so they actually gave me what's left!! After a while I was able to eat the leftovers and started to drink beers, shots and vodka drinks (3/4 of vodka and 1/4 of Sprite!). Around midnight we were all very drunk, and some of us were fighting just for fun, before going to town around 1.30. We then arrived at the Street and quickly went into Saltlageret and met two girls. But slowly the fun disintegrated as my friends left one by one, until we only were three left, and I couldn't find the others, so after one hour of searching, I decided to go home... not the greatest way to end a party!

27/4 - Grill Party!!

This Friday was nice and sunny, and when I came back from the university, I found Christian, Jimmy & Jorge sitting outside enjoying the sun with a beer, so I decided to join in. A beer or two later we decided to have a barbecue, and when were about to go to Dreisler (now a part of the "new" SuperBest chain) after some food and beer, we found some of our neighbours at nr. 4 and asked them if they wanted to join us, and of course they did. After coming back from Dreisler, i noticed that Mads had tried to contact me, so I called him and said if he wanted to join us, and about 30 minutes later he came. Later both Greg & Martin came home, so now most of the house were there for the grill party.
The barbecue itself was nice and relaxing, and there were some discussions - especially after that Lars came back from a Friday Bar. Around 23.00 the grill party was over (the neighbours left quite early to watch a movie, Mads left to get some sleep, and Greg & Christian went to the Friday Bar at the C.W. Obel collegium. I decided to watch Batman Begins, but I was to tired and went to sleep to the sounds of Jorges Spanish friends coming from the kitchen....

21/4 - Bowling for Holstebro?

No, it doesn't have anything to do with the famous documentary Bowling for Columbine, guns or anything - but this blog entry DOES have something to do with the wonderful sport of tenpin bowling and the boring city of Holstebro. So here's the story...
It started one early Saturday morning when I woke up and prepared myself to get to the bowling center because of I said yes to come to Holstebro to watch the playoffs in both the men's and women's best bowling league. Because the two teams from Aalborg weren't my club, I was the only one from my club who were going (although there were many who were former members of my club). We left at 8.00 and arrived in Holstebro two hours later. The two teams (a men's team and a women's team) were playing against a very tough opponent in the semifinals, and they both lost in the end.
During the break there was this nice buffet at which I enjoyed pretty much. Before the finals started i met my homeboy from Copenhagen Cornelio, who were supporting his club (both their men's and women's teams came through to the finals).
Around two hours later the arrangement was over, and it was time to go home. The trip was very long because of we started to drink beers and alcohol - and therefore had to take some breaks to take a p***. We were back at the bowling center around 22.30, and most of them went home. The rest of us went to a pub, but then we decided to go to town, and later again decided to go home. And I finally came home at midnight!

14/4 - Painting Time!!!!

After getting some sleep, I woke up around 7.30 and immediately got some weird messages. It turned out that a friend's little sister was curious about my origin, which was OK. I took a bus around 9.20 and went to a friend's place, where we picked up another and drove to Hals (a town to the north-east of Aalborg), where 5-6 of my friends have bought a summer residence, where we started to paint the house (I was there two times before to paint other parts of the house). We bought some grey color, which looked great, and when we stopped around 18.00, we managed to paint more than half the house!
We then decided to drive to another friend's place near the little city of Støvring, while we were listening to the nice football match between AaB and Brøndby on the radio, but we never managed to hear the final result before we arrived there. But we found out that our friend wasn't at work, so we just drove home. Before being dropped off, I saw some smoke coming up and someone who was using a grill, so I thought that my flatmates were doing that, but I found out that our neighbours were outside. I met Christian, who was injured because of a football match that he participated in the day before. He also told that Brøndby lost 2-3 to AaB, so that was a nice result. After some time I decided to go to the neighbours, who I met for the first time. I stayed there for a few hours until around 1.30, when we all decided to go to sleep.

13/4 - Trivial Pursuit

First of all: I'm sorry that I haven't written anything the last month; either I didn't have time or forgot about it... but now I'm back!!!
And now on to the subject: There was this Trivial Pursuit tournament at my faculty, and I wanted to win it, so I teamed up with my good friend Mads, because there had to be 2 or 3 persons in your team... but the opposition was hard... several persons from the 6. semester were participating, but my spirit was high at that time. Around 13.30 the tournament finally began. There were 2 preliminary rounds, where me and Mads was at one of them. But it didn't go particularly well, and we didn't get through to the final. If it was because of it was Friday the 13th, we will never know... but the team that went through from our table won the entire tournament, so we were just unlucky.
After the tournament ended, we just sat and drank some beer. Still a little upset I tried to play some Trivial Pursuit with another partner against another team just for fun, but it ended with a draw when one of the opponents went home....
After some more drinking and some dinner, we went to the Friday Bar at the C.W. Obel collegium. For me it was the first time I went there for a month, but I saw many familiar faces, and later that evening many from the 6th semester arrived at the Friday Bar, so we enjoyed ourselves until most of them left around 3.00. At 3.30 I decided to go home to sleep, so I could be ready for the next day...

A lot of pictures were taken that day - not just from my mobile phone!

17/3 - Reunion

The last couple of days I have been at my parents' place because of one thing: a reunion for all my old classmates who I spent many years at elementary school. Of course I also want some leftovers from my Mom and to wash my laundry, but it wasn't as important as the reunion party.

It all started with a message on MySpace from my good old friend Kenneth about this reunion and that the organizers wanted my address. So I did that, but never recieved any letter, so I contacted another old friend (Flat Eric, who is always reliable) and gave him my address, so he could give to the organizers.

In the end of February, the letter finally arrived, probably because of the big amount of snow the previous week. So I wrote to one of the organizers to notify that I will come. So far so good! But I didn't get any information about food or location - until last Thursday, when I wrote to the same organizer.... but I got the information that I needed: to buy some grapes and pineapples and the location was at a pretty small town.... and it was a costume party!

Fast forward to Saturday, where I bought the grapes and prepared myself for the party. At 18.00 my sister drove me to the location. Nervously I went in dressed in one of my Dad's working suits and was greeted by the organizers and 2-3 others. Then more people came etc, etc...

The party itself was great, and I did greet most of them (around 42 people), and to the few persons, that I didn't greet: I'm sorry, but I will catch up with you at the next party... I didn't win the competition for best costume, but I didn't expect to win anyway... meeting old friends like Kenneth, Flat Eric and Jesper aka. Fjolle Holle was a great experience, and I will probably meet them again soon. I was picked up at 3 in the morning by my sister and went straight to bed...

Don't we look pretty?!

2/3 - Øl, Øl....

Oh yes... this entry will be about beer (or the amount of Friday Bars that I have been at during the day), so hopefully you have a beer in your hand while reading this ;-)
I woke up at 6.15 this morning, which actually is too early in my opinion, but I had to do this because I had to buy a bus card, at which I did around 7.30 and took the next bus to the university. I found out that I could have waited one hour and still arrive just in time for a meeting with my good group mates Mads & Bjarke at 9.30, where we looked at our lovely report that we did on Wednesday and then sent it via email. Then we decided to celebrate it with some beer until Bjarke left at 11.00, so Mads and I stayed and talked for a while at a Friday Bar (and drinking a beer or two), until we went our seperate ways around 14.00, so I went to the humanistic faculty's Friday Bar and met 2 girls from the revue and drinking a good beer before heading back to the other Friday Bar, where I met Chris, Christina and Tulin (finally I can remember her name!!) while watching some comedy (it wasn't that great!), so I went with Chris and Christina to Føtex to buy some stuff and then heading back to listen to a live act before going home to get some dinner. At that time I already had like 4 beers...
In the evening I wanted to go to the Friday Bar at the C.W. Obel collegium, and only Jorge showed some interest, so I left around 21.00 and met many people from last Friday, so we enjoyed ourselves. And I got another dance before going home at 3.45.... While being there I got 6-7 beers and two shots of Fisherman('s Friend).... all in all a nice day...

28/2 - Snow is melting...

I woke up at 7.30 (after taking an extra nap) and tried to get a bus at 8.11 so I could be there early for a meeting at 9.00, but for unknown reasons it never came!! So I went to the bus stop near Dreisler to take another bus.... and around 8.50 I finally came to the university. Me and most of my group mates started the meeting at 9.00, but the last one overslept and came at bit later. We were doing a little report, and we were finished around 13.00, where I went to town and bought a Sony Ericsson W810i - and I don't regret it!! After coming home to recharge both(!) phones, I ate some dinner before going to the bowling center around 19.15. At 21.00 we had a Wednesday league match, where we did our best, but lost in the end.
Then I decided to go to the Student House, where I met a lot of familiar faces, and this was also the first time that Jorge was there. I also met some new faces, among those Christina (a fellow countrywoman) who read European Studies like Greg and Chris. We took the last bus around 0.40, and when we came back, Jorge and Greg wanted me to take a picture of them standing on a mountain of snow (and yes, there are a little bit of snow left), but in the end the pictures weren't that good, and then I went to bed...

23/2 - Winter Wonderland...

... Okay, maybe there aren't that much wonderland over the landscape in Aalborg, but it sure is winter! In the morning (around 10.30) I actually decided to walk over to the university despite of the amount of snow, but it was mostly to use a PC. The walk to the university took a little bit longer than usual because of the amount of snow in some parts of the bike path, but eventually I arrived there. And there were actually 4-5 other people in the the computer room at Fib. 4, so I wasn't the only person to defy the snow. A couple of hours later I decided to go home, and on the way home I took some pictures like this one:
Well, this doesn't happen every day

After coming home, nothing really important happened, but our new friend Jorge was fascinated by the snow since he comes from a part of Europe, where snow is pretty rare. It also seems that Greg loves to throw snow after people's heads - especially inside the kitchen!! Then it was evening and me and the foreign threesome decided to head for the Friday Bar at the C.W. Obel Collegium, so we used the road since there weren't that many cars that evening. After some while we finally arrived, but we found out that there were some party, so we had to wait. So we decided to go to Chris' place, which actually was pretty close to the Friday Bar!! There we met our little American girl Audrey, the girl I can't remember what her name is (yeah I know... pretty unfortunate), 2 Danish guys (Mads & Simon) I know from the University, and another Danish guy (whose name I can't remember), and we were there until around 23.30, where we went into the Friday Bar, where I met my group mate Bjarke and his girlfriend (along with his sister). Along the way I also met some other persons, who live there, I experienced Greg's dancing abilities, and Jorge became much more friendlier than usual (he is a nice guy in general, but his mood that night was probably because of that I wore a Spanish national jersey), and he even kissed me (thankfully only on my cheek). Actually I outlasted the flatmates (Martin went to another party before going home, and the two others went home at 3 o' clock) and the other international students, so I left at 6.15 (I was one of the few persons left at the bar) and came home almost 30 minutes later with some wierd hat...

Yeah, some Spaniards surely gave me some love(?!) because of one certain jersey...

21/2 - Snow is falling...

... all around me, children playing, having fun...
No, no, no, no and NO!! It's not that scenario from that famous Shakin' Stevens Christmas song, that I'm looking at!! Here in Aalborg it has snowed (probably) since last night, and already in the morning there were delayments with the bus, but luckily I only live around 30 minutes of walk from the university, so I decided to do just that. When I arrived, we were only 4 people, but eventually more people came, so the lecture wasn't cancelled.
After the lecture I met my Scotish friend Chris at the cantine, where we talked for a while before going to a computer room. At 15.00 I decided to go back home, but it was a LONG walk because of the wind most of the time blew in my face with snow... great!!
By the way... just to go at bit off topic... Yesterday a new guy moved in the house. His name is Jorge and comes (as some of you maybe have figured out) from Spain. He seems to be nice, but his English needs to be polished...
Finally back in the house I ate some lunch and then prepared myself to go to the Student House, but the snow were still causing problems for the busses, so they were cancelled for the rest of the evening. So no Student House tonight, but at least I can watch some Champions League... go Liverpool!!

10/2 - Arrivederci!!

I woke up at around 8.30 after getting only almost 3 hours of sleep!! Eventually I made some breakfast (yup, rye bread and herring) and went to some part of Sohngårdsholmsvej at 9.45, where I had promised to some from the revue group to help them setting some stuff up. I was supposed to leave at 12-12.30 to watch some bowling, but I delayed it by several hours, so I finally left at 16.10. I went to the bowling center to get some balls and went back home.

After coming home, I found out that Damiano was cooking a farewell dinner for us (except for Lars, who were at his parents, and our Greenlander, who isn't exactly the most popular guy in the house these days...). Later in the evening we were about to go to a party at Lena's place, but Christian was tired and so were Greg & Martin, so Damiano and I were the only ones who went.

The party was nice and uneventful, but Damiano got a farewell present from Lena (and the others)... Eventually Damiano and I took the last bus home around 0.45, and after coming home, I said goodbye because that I had to leave early the next morning, so I couldn't do it there.

So thanks Damiano for staying here at Hvidkildevej the last 6 months, and I hope that you will enjoy the next few days in London (especially Soho) before going back to Italy - and Nephew ;-)

Thanks for everything!!

9/2 - Party at Luna

My day really started at 12, when I met with my two group mates Bjarke and Mads to finish an assignment for Wednesday, that we had to send via email. After this was done, we went to the Friday Bar at the cantine to have a beer. I stayed there until 16.00, where I decided to go home. After coming home, Christian asked me if I could come with him to a place, where a farewell party for Damiano was being held, so I said "Sure". After Damiano left, we signed a note for the farewell present that Christian had bought for Damiano. Then Christian, Martin and I went to Danmarksgade, where the party was being held. There I met some new friends (who I actually had seen before at the Christmas party at Hvidkildevej) like Allan from Australia and Leanne from Canada, but there were also familiar faces like the energetic Lena....After having dinner and a dessert, we went to the Luna Collegium at Ny Kastetvej, where there was a party for international students. There I met new faces and familiar ones like Luis (who came to preach and was in character the entire night!), the guys from the French House at Thorsgade and Matthieu, who I haven't seen for some time. But one thing that some of us were talking about most of the evening was: "Where is Greg??" At one point Jimmy wrote to Christian that Greg would come soon, but something obviously went wrong. More on that later...
There were also a few surprises. The most surprising part was that my self-proclaimed little sister from Austria Verena was at the party (she went back to Austria in the middle of December). I found out that she was back in Aalborg for the weekend, which was pretty nice!
At 1.30, a lot of people went to town, and eventually Christian, Damiano and I did the same at 2. Eventually we settled down at the bar known as "Spirit of America", where we met many of the international students (and of course my "little sister" was there), and enjoyed ourselves until around 5, where we had to go home (not before having a little snack). We came home around 5.30, where we talked at bit before finally going to bed.

Oh yeah, I forgot one thing. I found out the next day that Greg actually went to Danmarksgade, but somehow he got the wrong address and eventually gave up and went home. Speaking about bad luck!

7/2 - At the Student House again...

The day started with a lecture in theory and methods, where me and two others were doing a little presentation along with two other groups. Unfortunately one of the guys couldn't come because of he was sick. Maybe he just feigned illness because he was scared ;-). It went OK, but it was nothing special...
In the afternoon I went to the Student House for a meeting with some guys, where we made a sketch for the upcoming revue. At 21.30 I went to the cinema to meet a friend and his cousin, but I found out that they weren't there, and after some time I decided not to wait anymore and went back to the Student House, where there were a lot of new international students. Eventually I found Damiano, Greg and Martin and greeted them. On the way home I also met two other international students, who were studying with Greg: a guy from Scotland, whose name I can't remember and Audrey from the USA. After coming home, Greg wasn't quick enough to get in the house, so we locked him out for a few minutes before going to bed.

4/2 - Super Bowl XLI

Most of the day was used for watcing the Jutland Youth Championships semi finals and finals in the bowling center, and after being at the local supermarket, I came home arround 17.30, where Christian asked me if I would join him and Jimmy for Super Bowl XLI arround midnight, and I said "Sure!". Later (almost) all the flatmates had a common dinner, which always is enjoyable. After the dinner I had to read some stuff for the presentation on Wednesday.
Then at midnight we watched Super Bowl XLI. In the middle of the second quarter Lars joined us and asked a lot of questions regarding American football. That's what you get for using too much time playing World Of Warcraft and not watching sports.
During the half time break, we went down to the kitchen to make some burgers, which we ate along some french fries during the second half. After the game ended, I went straight to bed.
The match was great, especially the first quarter. Man, that was sick!! But eventually the Colts won the match to my big disappointment (you can guess who I cheered for). Thanks a lot Rex!!

1/2 - Welcome!!

A new day, a new semester at the university - and most of all - new flatmates. Those were the headlines of the day.
After a quick breakfast, I went to the university, where a new semester started with a lecture in theory and methods. I came in a group, who volunteered to make a little presentation for the lecture the next week. Other than that there was nothing new - except the books. It wasn't surprising that the book, we have to use did cost ca. 250 DKR, but I was surprised to find out that the compendium did cost 271 DKR(!!!), which annoyed me. But it was one BIG compendium.
The other big subject of the day was the new flatmates: were they girls or boys, from Europe or somewhere else in the world etc., etc... I already knew their surnames when I came back from my parents the day before, but I wanted to know... After the lecture I went to the cantine with some of the guys to chat at bit. On the way I got a message from Christian that one of them was already at our house. That guys name was Martin and was from the Czech Republic. Now one half of the mystery was solved, and the other was solved in the evening. More about that later...
I was supposed to go to a party with most of the guys and girls from the fourth semester in the evening, but then I got a message in the cantine that it was canceled because of the semi final against Poland, which was very dissapponting!
So I used the evening to train, but it was a bit difficult because that many people watched the handball match on the big screen in the bowling center. After coming home, I met the last of the new guys. He was from Hungary and his name was Greg (he said it would be easier than his real name, that I can't remember). After a short chat, I went to bed...
To wrap it up: two guys from Eastern Europe has moved in the house at Hvidkildevej 6, which broke the trend of having French guys in the house since April last year (another French guy was in the house from April to the middle of September)... hehe ;-)

31/1-07 - Au revoir!!

This is mostly used as a tribute to my two French friends Gus and Antoine, who left Denmark earlier today. I hope that you enjoyed your stay in Denmark, and I wish you good luck down there in France.

Salut mates - I'll see you again someday

In other news I will go back to Aalborg later today.

26-28/1-07 - The 25th wedding anniversary party (before, during and after)!

Friday morning my sister and I were waiting for that my Dad to come home, so we could go to Silkeborg. A couple of hours later he finally came home, and my Mom came home around 30 minutes later, so we went to a building market to look for some wire and pieces of wood, but we couldn't find anything. So we tried our luck in another building market in Silkeborg. There we were able to find the necessary stuff to build a triumphal arch for my parents. Then we buyed some plates, so we could use as a present, a large cardboard heart for the triumphal arch, and finally some big mugs for the wedding present. My sister had to go to work in Silkeborg, so I went home to unload the stuff before going to the community house in Salten (a little town), where my parents' 25th wedding anniversary party was to be held, to help my parents setting up the tables and chairs. at 19.00 my sister wrote to me, because she wanted to be picked up, so my parents gave me some money to buy some pizza. I went to Silkeborg and picked up my sister and then drove to a pizzaria to buy some pizzas, but I had to wait for 30 minutes because they were busy.... great!! But eventually I got my pizzas and went home to eat them.

-End of Friday 26/1-

We woke up early the next day to load some wine, soft drinks and some booze and drive to the community house to finish the last few things before going home to eat some lunch. The next few hours were used to take a shower etc.
At 16.00 we went back to the community house to make the final preparations. My sister had 3 friends to help us serving the food and wine. At 17.00 the musical entertainment arrived, and 15 minutes later the first guests arrived, and the appetizers were served. One hour later we started to eat dinner. At one point my godmother encouraged me to do a speech, at which I did a little bit later. It was short, but sweet, and I heard that my parents were very happy that I did it. A lot of guests congratulated me, which was a very nice feeling. A couple of speeches and a dessert later (around 23.30) I was getting tired, but my Mom and some guests wanted me to dance with them, at which I found embarassing, but I did it anyway. At 3 in the morning most of the guests were gone, and my sister and I decided to drive her friends back to Silkeborg, before heading back home to get some sleep at 4.00.

- End of Saturday 27/1-

I woke up 4 hours later to get a quick breakfast before heading to the community house to do some cleaning and to put the tables and chairs back in place. At 11.00 we were finished and delivered the keys to the guy who rents the place before going home to get a quick lunch before taking a nap. In the afternoon I woke up and surfed on the Internet before my sister said that we had to make the triumphal arch before Monday, at which I was unhappy about. After eating dinner, my sister and I went outside to make the triumphal arch. It wasn't the most beautiful, but we did make it. And the rest of the evening, I did the usual stuff.

The making of the triumphal arch

24/1-07 - Back to my parents

I woke up a little bit earlier than normal (around 7.45!!), because I wanted to say goodbye to the French guys, who were going to Norway for a few days. After they were gone, I packed the last few things before going to the university to check some stuff. I also went to Kroghstræde to see how a friend was doing at an exam, but I saw that her exam was finished at 11.30, so I decided to go to town where some first semester girls also were at their exam. On the way I meet an old friend from Silkeborg, who I haven't met for some time, and we talked about different things before going our separate ways. Once I arrived at the first year students' area, I saw those girls, but it seemed that they didn't recognize me... not even after they were finished! What a waste of time for me. So I decided to go to Jens' place (one of the guys who I drove to Løkken last Saturday) to get some money. I spent 30 minutes and got some money before going to the bus terminal.
I went with a 960X from Aalborg to Silkeborg at 14.05. It was rather uneventful, and my dad picked me up in Silkeborg at 16.35, and we went to a local supermarket to buy some stuff before going home to my parents' place in Bryrup (about 20 kilometres to the south of Silkeborg). I used the evening to use my sisters' laptop....

20/1-07 - Storm is coming!!

I woke up at 12 because of my activities yesterday evening. I was to be picked up by some friends at 18.15 outside the house, so I just waited by watching the women's Champion's League in handball. I started to watch my favorite team Viborg HK play against Larvik in Norway (on Norwegian TV), but Viborg played very, very bad, so I switched to another match between Aalborg DH and Volgograd. It went much better, I must say (putting my "Danish" glasses on). I switched back to Norwegian TV at one point to my big disappointment that Larvik led by 10 goals!!! Immediately I switched back and watched the rest of the match (only interrupted by a early dinner). At 18.15 (actually 2-3 minutes later) my friends arrived in a Renault (I call this a wreck, but more about that later), but to my big surprise they brought two girls, I didn't knew at all!! I found out that they picked the girls up at a gas station because they didn't manage to catch a bus, so they promised to take the girls down town (and some beers). I managed to get one of their numbers before they were dropped off... more about that later. We then drove to the western part of Aalborg to pick some other friends. It was at that time, I started to drive the car, while the others were drinking. No problem for me, since I was bowling a match the next day. The thing was that they were going to Løkken to a birthday party of another friend. For those who don't know where Løkken is, it is around 40-50 kilometres to the northwest of Aalborg. I quickly learned how to use the car, but there was a storm that evening, so you had to focus on keeping the car on the road. After dropping them off in Løkken, I went back to Aalborg and took a little break, where I wrote a SMS to the girl, whose number I got earlier, but to my big disappointment I never got any answer!! Then I went home to watch the second half of Denmarks first match in the men's handball World Championships against Hungary, but sadly they lost after leading most of the time!! Then I went to a gas station to put some gas....
After 2 hours of waiting at home, I went back to Løkken, where I was invited in to the party. The guys were pretty drunk, while I was drinking Pepsi. We tried to give the girl from earlier a last chance, but she never took the call!! Why give your phone number, when you never answer back!! Some of the guys were becoming so drunk that it was embarassing to watch. We were finally able to go home at 3.30, so I drove them back to their respective appartments before finally coming back home at 4.30!!

19/1-07 - Party Time!!

The day started with the usual stuff, so I will just skip it this time. I went to the university to meet a friend, who was supposed to be at an exam that morning, but when I came, I found out that her exam was on Wednesday the 24th.... two days in a row making mistakes regarding other peoples exams... that's not good! And it didn't get any better when I found out that the computer rooms were occupied, so I had to go to the library to use the computer, but I used much of the time searching for phone numbers of old friends. I must say that it was interesting to find out where many of them live now.... then I decided to go home and eat some lunch.
In the evening I was going to a party at a friend's place in Nørresundby. After buying some beer at the local Netto, I went to his place, but it took some time before finding it. But we had some fun, and I met some new friends. At 1.00, some of them went down town, while the rest of us stayed for about 30 minutes longer before going to the local pub Industricaféen. There we played with dices and drank some beer until it closed, so we went to town and met with the others at LA Bar. Later we went to Hr. Nielsen, where I met Gus and Antoine. Boy, where were they drunk. I was a little drunk too, but not as drunk as they were! (at least after hearing stories about what they were doing a little bit later).
I decided to go home at 5, but the weather wasn't with me at all!! It rained so much, that I was soaking wet when I returned to the house at Hvidkildevej. After putting all my wet clothes to dry, I decided to go to bed...

18/1-07 - The bus broke down....

The day started as usual with some rye bread and some herring or slices of meat. At 9 I went to the university to meet some guys, I met during my first semester, to hear how their exam went. But when I arrived, I found out that they were already finished and were gone.... damn! Then I went to the computer room at Fibigerstræde 4 and did some stuff (like writing my two first blog entries). At 13.30 I decided to go to the post office to pay my phone bill and then took the bus to the bowling center. But on the way, there came smoke out of the bus, and the bus driver was forced to stop, and thus I had to wait for 10 minutes before the next bus arrived. I don't know if I was unlucky that day or what it was, is uncertain.
Eventually I arrived at the bowling center just in time. Usually on Thursdays I do some stuff for my clubs youth department like telling them which lane they have to be at. After 17.00 the last of the kids had left, and I went to my ball driller to spend some time watching bowling until 20.00, where people from my club came to the center. At 21.00 we practiced until 22.00, where we chatted for a while before going home.

17/1-07 - Back at the Student House!

My Wednesday started with the usual breakfast with rye bread and herring or slices of meat. Then I went to the university, where I finally got the opportunity to see Kroghstræde, where some of the educations are situated. Then I went to the computer room at Fibigerstræde 4 to check some mail and stuff. At 17.00 I took the bus to the bowling center because I was going to bowl a league session at 19.00, and it takes around 35-40 minutes to get there. After arriving, I went to the pro shop to see my ball driller, where two of my club mates were either talking to him or using his laptop to bet some money...
At 19.00 the league session finally started. We were playing against a team, we lost to the last time we met them. We were intent on revenge, but we had a difficult first game, where I lost by one pin(!), but luckilly my to teammates won theirs. I won my second game pretty easy, but it's not enough when your teammates didn't win theirs. Before the last game, it was a tie and two of us had to win to win the match, but alas... it wasn't to be that way, so we lost again.... at least I got over the defeat quite quickly, and a friend drove me home.
After coming home I warmed a pizza and asked Antoine to help me (to create this blog and other stuff), which was done just in time to eat my pizza! At 23.00 me, Gus, Antoine, Damiano and Christian went to the Student House. It was the first time in a month that I came here. There we met some of our foreign friends like the tall and elegant Naïara from Spain and the pretty energetic Lena from Germany. One highlight was during a conversation, a girl from Iceland suddenly went to us and just began to talk. I wonder if she was on drugs, was pretty drunk or was just wierd... only one can tell.... Another highlight was when Damiano was recording video messages. That was nice... At 1.00 (probably 5-10 minutes later) we went back to our house at Hvidkildevej, where we talked at little before going to bed around 1.30.

The first post - some general information!

After using some time considering if I should have a blog or not, I have decided to give it a shot. I want to say thanks to my French flatmate Antoine for helping me creating my account etc. etc.
For those who don't know, I live in a little apartment at Hvidkildevej in the eastern part of Aalborg, where I live with seven other people. Aside from me there are:
Three other Danes: Christian, Jimmy & Lars
Two "Frenchies": Gus & Antoine
Our only Italian Damiano
And last, but not least - there is Simon, who is technically a Dane, but is of Greenlandic descent...
I hope that it gave a little insight of my everyday life and who I'm living with.
